Photography Business: 2023 in review
What a year has it been! Another amazing year in the photography business with its successes and valuable lessons, and today I want to share them with you in a now traditional year review.
During this past year I truly fell in love with personal branding photography. Having worked with some inspiring businesses and business owners, it excites me knowing that my creative photography and video work helps people elevate their businesses, increase sales, visibility and brand image online.
As well as helping my clients create effective brand social material, I’ve been experimenting with my branding content to see which style/aesthetic resonates with my potential clients the best. Lots of valuable insight learnt, and I cannot wait to share my knowledge! I will be speaking next year about branding yourself as a freelancer at a conference in summer (stay tuned for more info!).
Photography & Videography projects
2023 was incredible in terms of a variety of creative projects – professional headshots for freelance professionals, business owners and teams big and small; office photos, PR photography for bars, pubs and some premium office spaces in Birmingham city centre, personal as well as corporate event photography, e-commerce fashion and product photography projects, and of course, branding and marketing content.
I cannot believe the total of 229 projects filmed and photographed during this past year. I feel like I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried new techniques and creative ideas on the spot.

Photography Talks
One of my highlights of this year was doing my very first formal photography workshop back in May with Wex Photo Video.
I was so excited and nervous at the same time (“what if I forget words?”) luckily I didn’t!
Speaking in front of a group of photographers felt surprisingly natural and fun. I really enjoyed observing the crowd: which topics made their eyes light up and which ones on the contrary didn’t resonate that well.
Overall it was such a refreshing experience to do something different to shooting and editing.

Business Growth
Another highlight for my photography business this year was expanding. Now it’s not just me on my own, but a small team of photographers covering events big and small in Birmingham and beyond. During 2023, as well as Birmingham, we provided event photography in London, Manchester, Bristol, Telford, Leicester, Leamington Spa, and Warwick.
I cannot wait for all the projects the new year brings!
